Court Sentences 10 Bangladeshi Nationals for Illegal Entry
A court in Udupi has sentenced ten Bangladeshi nationals to two years in prison for illegally entering India. The ruling, issued by the principal senior civil judge on December 8, 2025, also includes a fine of Rs 10,000 for each individual involved in the case.
The incident began on October 11, 2024, when PSI Praveen Kumar R of the Malpe police station noticed seven individuals acting suspiciously near the Vadabandeshwara Bus Stand. Upon questioning, the group was unable to present valid documentation for their stay in India. Investigations indicated that these individuals had allegedly crossed the border from Bangladesh and were residing in Hoode, Paduthonse village, utilizing forged Aadhaar cards.
Following their initial apprehension, the police registered a case at Malpe police station under crime number 138/2025, citing violations of multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Foreigners Act, and the Aadhaar Act. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of three additional individuals, bringing the total number of accused to ten.
The police filed a detailed chargesheet in court, and following the trial, all ten individuals were convicted. The court’s decision underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat illegal immigration and the creation of counterfeit identity documents.
Officials from the police department emphasized their commitment to strict enforcement measures against illegal entrants, reinforcing that such actions are part of a broader strategy to enhance security and uphold immigration laws in the district. The case reflects a growing focus on addressing illegal immigration, which remains a significant concern for authorities.
