Virat Kohli Arrives in Ranchi Ahead of ODI Series Against South Africa
Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli arrived in Ranchi on November 26, 2025, ahead of the highly anticipated One Day International (ODI) series against South Africa. The three-match series is set to commence on November 30 at the JSCA International Stadium.
Kohli was spotted at Ranchi airport with former Under-19 teammate Saurabh Tiwary, who currently serves as the Secretary of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). The two shared a light moment as they exited the airport, engaging in conversation and appearing relaxed. Kohli wore a black t-shirt paired with a denim jacket, while Tiwary opted for formal attire.
This reunion comes as Kohli prepares for a crucial series that could impact his future in the sport. The talented batter had made headlines recently after a disappointing performance during the ODI series against Australia, where he recorded two consecutive ducks in the first two matches. He later redeemed himself in the final ODI, scoring an unbeaten 74 runs off 81 balls, which included seven boundaries.
Kohli’s performance in the upcoming series will be closely scrutinized, especially with questions surrounding his position in the squad for the 2027 World Cup. Each inning against South Africa will serve as an opportunity for him to showcase his skills and secure his place in the national team.
Kohli’s Impressive ODI Record Against South Africa
Throughout his ODI career, Kohli has established himself as one of the game’s premier players. In 305 ODIs, he has amassed a staggering 14,255 runs at an average of 57.71, which includes 51 centuries and 75 half-centuries. His record against South Africa is particularly noteworthy, as he has scored 1,504 runs in 31 matches against them, averaging an impressive 65.39 with five centuries and eight half-centuries. His highest score in ODIs against the Proteas is an unbeaten 160.
As the series approaches, Kohli’s focus will be on maintaining consistency and building on the form he displayed in his last match. Fans and analysts alike will be eager to see how he performs in front of a home crowd.
Kohli and Tiwary’s bond from their days together in the 2008 U19 World Cup in Malaysia adds a layer of nostalgia to the occasion. Both players were part of the Indian team that lifted the World Cup trophy and later played together at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League from 2011 to 2013.
As the stage is set for the ODI series, all eyes will remain on Virat Kohli, not only as a key player for the Indian team but also as an embodiment of the sport’s rich heritage and competitive spirit.
