PM Modi Launches Inaugural Emerging Science and Technology Conclave
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the first Emerging Science and Technology Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) on November 3, 2025, in New Delhi. This significant event aims to bolster India’s research and development ecosystem by launching a substantial fund dedicated to advancing private sector-led innovation.
The inaugural conclave, described as a flagship initiative by the government, is set to become an annual gathering that will unite over 3,000 participants from various sectors, including academia, research institutions, industry, and government. Notable attendees will include Nobel laureates, leading scientists, innovators, and policymakers, all convening to discuss and promote advancements in science and technology.
One of the key highlights of the event is the introduction of a Rs 1 lakh crore (approximately $12 billion) Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund. This initiative aims to stimulate a robust private sector-driven research and development environment in India. The fund’s establishment reflects the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and enhancing the nation’s competitive edge in the global market.
Focus Areas of the Conclave
The ESTIC will feature a diverse range of activities, including keynote speeches by distinguished scientists, panel discussions, and technology showcases. These sessions are designed to facilitate collaboration among researchers, industry leaders, and emerging innovators. The conclave will concentrate on 11 key thematic areas, which include advanced materials and manufacturing, artificial intelligence, bio-manufacturing, and the blue economy. Other focal points will encompass digital communications, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, emerging agricultural technologies, energy, environmental and climate issues, health and medical technologies, quantum science and technology, and space technologies.
This platform aims to not only highlight India’s achievements in science and technology but also to spark dialogue and partnerships that can lead to transformative innovations. By addressing pressing global challenges through these thematic discussions, the conclave aspires to position India as a leader in the field of emerging technologies.
As the nation prepares for this landmark event, the anticipation surrounding the potential outcomes of the conclave reflects a broader aspiration for India to strengthen its role in the global scientific community. The convergence of diverse expertise and perspectives at ESTIC is expected to lay the groundwork for future advancements that can benefit not just India, but the world at large.
