Odisha Launches Online Quiz on Medicinal Plants for Awareness
The State Medicinal Plants Board of Odisha is set to launch a state-level online quiz focused on medicinal plants, starting on December 10, 2023. This initiative coincides with the upcoming 18th Kalinga Herbal Fair, which will be held from December 10 to 16 at the Unit–3 Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.
Participants in the quiz will include members from various groups, such as Van Suraksha Samitis, traditional healers, medicinal plant cultivators, primary collectors, researchers, students, and the general public from across the state. The quiz aims to enhance awareness regarding the uses of medicinal plants, traditional healing practices, seasonal advantages, potential side effects, and common household remedies.
Organizers believe that this initiative will not only educate students and citizens about the significance of medicinal plants but also highlight their role in sustainable healthcare. By participating, individuals can gain valuable knowledge that can contribute to both personal health and the conservation of natural resources.
Promoting Traditional Medicine and Conservation Efforts
The quiz is part of a broader effort to strengthen conservation initiatives and advocate for traditional medicine systems. Officials hope that the program will inspire a sense of responsibility among students toward environmental stewardship and the preservation of natural resources.
Participants interested in the quiz can register online by visiting the official website of the State Medicinal Plants Board, Odisha, at smpbodisha.in and navigating to the Quiz Section. Upon successful completion of the quiz, participants will be able to download certificates of participation, further validating their engagement in this educational experience.
Officials express optimism that the quiz will encourage future generations to adopt healthier lifestyles and cultivate an appreciation for the value of traditional medicine. By fostering this awareness, the State Medicinal Plants Board aims to promote a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of health and environmental sustainability.
In conclusion, the online quiz represents an opportunity for individuals across Odisha to engage with their natural heritage and learn about the important role of medicinal plants in both traditional and modern healthcare practices.
