Global Conference on Biomedical Innovation Kicks Off at Srinivas University
The inaugural global biomedical synthesis conference, SIMSIC 2K25, titled “Innovation from Molecule to Medicine,” commenced on December 9, 2023, at the new campus of Srinivas University in Mangalore. The event, organized in collaboration with the Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (SIMS & RC), aims to explore advancements in biomedical sciences.
During the opening ceremony, Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor of Srinivas University and President of the A Shama Rao Foundation, commended the esteemed guests for sharing their expertise. He expressed gratitude towards the global leaders present for their contributions to student learning and discussions.
The chief guest, Dr A Srinivas Rao, Pro-Chancellor of Srinivas University, highlighted the significance of biomedical research in understanding and treating human disorders. He noted the crucial roles of biochemistry and anatomy in medical diagnosis and treatment. Dr Rao emphasized that technological advancements, including developments in nanotechnology, are achievable through dedicated research and innovation.
Insights from Distinguished Speakers
Among the notable speakers was Prof Rana Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University. He encouraged attendees to engage with their environments and contribute to their fields of study with genuine interest. His remarks underscored the importance of dedication and active participation in academic pursuits.
Guest speaker Dr Rao V L Papineni, PhD, founder-president of BBC Cure and affiliated with the University of Kansas Medical Center in the USA, spoke on the value of knowledge exchange. He expressed appreciation for platforms like SIMSIC that promote collaboration and insight sharing among experts.
The conference attracted a diverse audience, including key academic figures such as A Vijayalakshmi R Rao, member of the Board of Governors at Srinivas University, and other distinguished guests like Dr Madhukar Thakur from Thomas Jefferson University, Dr Anil Kumar, Registrar of Srinivas University, and Dr Edwin D’Souza, Head of the Department of Paediatrics.
The event was officially welcomed by Dr Uday Kumar Rao, Dean of SIMS & RC. Dr Sucheta Kumari N, Director of Research & Development, delivered introductory remarks, while gratitude was expressed by Dr David Rosario, Medical Superintendent of Srinivas Hospital. The programme was facilitated by Dr Swathi D and Nisha K R.
As the conference unfolds, it is anticipated that discussions will lead to innovative solutions and advancements in the biomedical field, benefiting both research and clinical practices.
