Talasani Srinivas Yadav Intensifies Push for Secunderabad Municipal Corporation
Former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has pledged to intensify efforts for the establishment of a separate Secunderabad Municipal Corporation. This declaration comes despite recent police actions, including arrests and restrictions on protests. Yadav criticized the current Congress government, linking the demand for a separate municipal body to significant heritage and identity concerns.
During a press briefing at his office in West Marredpally, Yadav expressed his determination to continue the agitation. He stated, “The police initially granted permission for a peaceful rally but cancelled it unexpectedly. Their attempts to disrupt our movement have only strengthened our resolve.” He released videos purportedly showing police interference during a recent rally, emphasizing the community’s commitment to their cause.
Yadav highlighted the historical significance of Secunderabad, which boasts a rich legacy spanning over 220 years. He argued that merging Secunderabad with the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation threatens the city’s identity. “We will fight until the government acknowledges our demands,” he declared.
The former minister also criticized the leadership of Revanth Reddy, suggesting that the current administration operates in a “Tughlaq-style” manner. He pointed out the government’s contradictory approach, as it created the Malkajgiri Corporation while neglecting Secunderabad’s needs. Yadav accused the Congress of inaction over the past two years, stating that they have failed to focus on the state’s development.
Looking ahead, Yadav announced plans for a larger rally in the first week of February 2024. He intends to gather thousands of supporters and will seek legal permissions to ensure the event proceeds without interference. He urged other political parties and organizations to join the movement, underscoring that intimidation tactics employed by the government would not deter their efforts.
As the agitation continues, the community’s call for a separate municipal corporation remains a focal point of local political discourse, reflecting broader concerns about heritage, identity, and governance in the region.
