St Aloysius Gonzaga School Honors Yuvaraj D Kunder’s Athletic Triumphs

St Aloysius Gonzaga School in Mangaluru celebrated the achievements of Master Yuvaraj D Kunder on December 9, recognizing his exceptional performance at the SGFI National-Level Athletics Championship. Yuvaraj, a Class VIII student, received a warm welcome during a special ceremony that included a procession in an open jeep, escorted by his physical education teachers.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the school’s principal, Fr Rohan D Almeida SJ, vice-principals, Yuvaraj’s parents, Dheeraj Kotian and Veena D Kotian, as well as his coach, Bhakshith Salian, from the Khelo India Centre.

During his address, Fr Almeida congratulated Yuvaraj on his accomplishments and encouraged fellow students to embrace the “3Ds”—Dream big, Dedication, and Determination—as keys to achieving excellence. Coach Salian praised Yuvaraj’s relentless effort and discipline, highlighting the support provided by the school and his family in nurturing young athletic talent.

Yuvaraj’s athletic journey began at the age of nine, and he has since made a remarkable transition from a young skater to a dual-sport athlete. His recent victory at the SGFI National-Level Athletics Championship marked a significant milestone, making St Aloysius Gonzaga School the only CBSE school in Karnataka to achieve this honor.

His success is not limited to athletics alone; he also secured two gold medals at the CBSE South Zone Skating Championship held in Palakkad in July 2025. At the CBSE National Athletics Championship in Varanasi, Yuvaraj won a gold medal in the 200-meter race and a bronze in the 400-meter event. Additionally, his prowess in skating is evident, as he clinched two gold medals at the CBSE National-Level Skating Championship held at HSV Global School in Gurgaon, excelling in both the 500-meter rink race and the one-lap road race.

Yuvaraj expressed his gratitude during the ceremony, thanking the school management, principal, vice-principals, coach, teachers, parents, and fellow students for their unwavering support. He dedicated his achievements to their encouragement and committed to striving for further success in both athletics and skating.
