Madhavan Reflects on Transformative Role in ‘Dhurandhar’
R Madhavan has taken on a transformative role as Ajay Sanyal, the National Security Adviser, in the new film Dhurandhar. The movie, directed by Aditya Dhar, has received mixed reviews since its release. Despite the film’s varied reception, Madhavan describes the experience of portraying Sanyal as “life-changing.”
Madhavan spoke candidly about the impact of this role, stating, “Playing this National Security Adviser has opened up an entire new world for me. It’s like being thrown into a universe that I knew only in shadowy detail.” He emphasized the importance of understanding the concepts of national security, including the “army-like discipline, the dedication and sacrifices,” which extend even to the loss of lives in service to the nation.
The actor expressed his admiration for Dhar, describing him as a “monk” in the filmmaking process. “Through all the chaos of making a film so dense and intense, he would sit there waiting for the anxieties to settle down. What a fine human being!” Madhavan’s respect for his director further highlights the collaborative spirit behind Dhurandhar.
In addition to reflecting on his current role, Madhavan hinted at exciting developments for the sequel, which is set to release in March 2024. He noted that his screen presence is limited in the first part of the film but promises that viewers can expect much more from his character in the upcoming installment. “In the second part, there is a lot of my character, as he trains the Ranveer character in skills of espionage warfare.”
As the film continues to draw attention, Madhavan’s insights into his role and the creative process behind Dhurandhar provide a deeper understanding of the themes explored within the narrative. His journey into the world of national security speaks to the broader implications of the film, resonating with audiences who appreciate the complexities of such critical topics.
