Karnataka Celebrates Unveiling of World’s Second-Largest Khadi Flag
On December 9, 2023, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah unveiled the world’s second-largest Khadi national flag at the Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi, Karnataka. This event marked a significant moment in the region, celebrating national pride and the historic significance of Khadi. The enormous tricolour, which pays homage to India’s unity, captured the attention of hundreds of onlookers as it was unfurled in front of the state’s legislative complex.
The flag was sponsored and crafted by Vinod Kumar Revappa Bamanna and his family from Kamalapur in Kalaburagi district. Their dedication to enhancing national pride through this initiative reflects a personal commitment to promoting the legacy of Khadi, a fabric synonymous with India’s freedom struggle. The unveiling ceremony was graced by several prominent figures, including U T Khader, Speaker of the Assembly, D K Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister, and H K Patil, Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
