Actor-politician Vijay affirmed his unwavering support for the people of Puducherry during a significant public rally held on Tuesday at the Uppalam Harbour Complex. Addressing a crowd of approximately 5,000 attendees, he expressed confidence that his party’s presence will grow in the union territory’s political landscape. “I will always stand with the people of Puducherry, and in the coming Assembly elections, the flag of our party will surely fly here,” he stated.

The rally took place under stringent security measures following the recent tragedy in Karur, which resulted in the loss of 41 lives. Security protocols included meticulous scanning and verification processes for all attendees, with police presence heightened from the early morning hours. As Vijay took to the stage, he was met with enthusiastic cheers and waves from his supporters, underscoring the emotional connection he seeks to foster.

Vijay emphasized a sense of unity between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, asserting that while they may be separate states legally, “we are all one family.” He invoked the legacy of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), reminding the audience of Puducherry’s historical significance in Tamil politics.

Rejecting claims that his political influence would be limited to Tamil Nadu, Vijay promised to advocate vigorously for the rights and needs of Puducherry. He commended the local administration for their security efforts at the event while criticizing the Tamil Nadu government for not emulating such standards. “They will not learn on their own,” he remarked, suggesting that the electorate will teach them a lesson in the upcoming elections.

Vijay’s address also included pointed criticisms of the central government, accusing it of neglecting Puducherry’s aspirations for full statehood despite ongoing demands in the Assembly. He highlighted the government’s failure to create sufficient employment opportunities and attract IT companies, lamenting the lack of clear performance targets for ministers. Additionally, he claimed that the Karaikal region has been sidelined in terms of development.

Addressing infrastructure concerns, Vijay noted that Puducherry faces significant challenges, including inadequate parking facilities and public toilets. He urged residents to be cautious of the DMK, alleging that the Union government has not allocated enough funds to Puducherry, which has led the local administration to rely on loans. He also pointed out that Puducherry remains the only place in India without a proper ration shop system.

In conclusion, Vijay reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Puducherry, asserting that his political movement is poised to extend beyond Tamil Nadu. He sees Puducherry as a crucial element in shaping the party’s future electoral strategy.
