Prime Minister Modi Launches Emerging Science and Technology Conclave
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first Emerging Science and Technology Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) on November 3, 2025, in a significant effort to enhance India’s research and development (R&D) landscape. This three-day event will serve as a pivotal platform for collaboration among various sectors, including academia, industry, and government.
As part of the conclave, Modi will unveil a substantial Rs 1 lakh crore (approximately $12 billion) Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund. This initiative aims to stimulate private sector-driven research across the country, marking a strategic shift towards innovation-led economic growth.
A Hub for Collaboration and Innovation
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), ESTIC 2025 is designed to bring together over 3,000 participants, including leading scientists, innovators, policymakers, and Nobel laureates. The conclave will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and technology showcases, all aimed at creating an environment conducive to innovation.
The discussions will focus on 11 thematic areas vital for India’s technological advancements. These include advanced materials and manufacturing, artificial intelligence, bio-manufacturing, blue economy, digital communications, semiconductors, emerging agricultural technologies, energy, environmental and climate issues, health and medical technologies, quantum science, and space innovations.
The event is positioned as a flagship annual gathering in the field of science and technology, with the goal of fostering synergies between researchers, industries, and young innovators. By creating a dynamic space for dialogue and collaboration, the conclave aims to translate new ideas into practical innovations that can elevate India’s status as a global leader in science and technology.
Driving Future Growth
With the launch of the RDI Fund, the Indian government is making a concerted effort to catalyse a new era of innovation-led growth. This initiative is expected to position India as a key hub for next-generation technologies, enhancing its competitiveness on the global stage.
As the world increasingly recognizes the importance of science and technology in addressing contemporary challenges, ESTIC 2025 stands as a testament to India’s commitment to fostering innovation. The conclave not only signals a significant investment in the future of research and development but also highlights the importance of collaboration among diverse stakeholders in navigating the complexities of technological advancement.
